Welcome to Waterdelph

Waterdelph is a coumpound of two nouns. A bit like “dark humour”, or in honour of the age-old wise action of looking two ways before crossing an elephant-filled savanah. I hope you enjoy this party mix of sardonic poetry, vampire heroes, and meditative haikus.

UPDATE
8 October 2010: Life has a habit of veering in new directions.
I am now fully immersed in calligraphy, with little time for anything else.
My new work can be seen at waterdelph.deviantart.com.
Stories from this site will gradually move to my new website.
Thanks for reading, I hope you also enjoy my art!

BLOOD STAIN
Action! Adventure! Blood!

Blood Stain is a series of adventure stories with vampires and other monsters as protagonists. The first three stories were first published online in 2001-2002. When the fourth story was being revised in late 2002, a trip to Scotland inspired a fifth and final installment that required huge changes in story 4. By the time I had re-revised stories 4 and 5, I decided to print the whole series for a science-fiction convention. The first three original stories are still available here.
BLOOD STAIN 1 (2001 version)
BLOOD STAIN 2 (2001 version)
BLOOD STAIN 3 (2002 version)
Print versions of the some episodes, with colour covers, are still available for CA$3.00 each (plus shipping):

SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST

This is a very limited-run illustrated story I wrote called Survival of the Fittest, which features a god trying to survive in a future world that stopped believing in pretty much anything. Done the old fashioned-way, on paper with scissors and glue.
I still have a few in stock, for CA$1.50 (plus shipping): email me at

POETRY

A poem for all of those who think that nothing good will ever come out of wasting the world with pollution. Visit the 22nd century. (written July 2002)

I also posted a selection of haiku and humourous dark poems.

MORE SHORT STORIES

A story for the strong at heart, the unhealthily curious, and the French-reading public. It was inspired by a butcher shop and the words Rigor Mortis. (written March 2001)

Theme and Variation: Inspired by tiresome ear-training exercises and musical canons. (written in Fall 2000)

A Christmas story, in the true spirit (and cynicism) of modern yule tide. (written in December 2000)

MUSIC

A quick word on these compositions: As long as I can remember, there is a twinkling melody in my mind whenever I'm quiet enough to hear it. These pieces are an attempt to capture bits of that music. To hear the pieces, click on any of the titles. To return to this page, click on the "BACK" button of your browser.
1. Freefall (vibraphone duet)
2. Adagio (string pizzicatto trio)
3. Glockenspiel (duet with dulcimer)
These are MIDI files, so they should load fast and will play on just about any browser.
